Risk and protective factors of mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic: A cross-sectional study in Singapore

Introduction: The main aims of the study were to: establish average levels psychological distress, suicidality and positive mental health (PMH); examine their associated risk protective factors in population Singapore during early phase COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Participants from a national psychiatric epidemiological conducted general 2016 to 2018, who had agreed be re-contacted, invited participate that was May 2020 June 2021. Questionnaires assessing causes stress, resilience PMH administered. Results: A total 1,129 respondents completed study. mean age 47.7 (standard deviation = 16.5) years. prevalence depression anxiety 7.1%, 8.0% 8.4%, respectively. final pathways model showed high concerns related possible infection family members or friends significantly with higher stress (β 0.242, P<0.001), 0.152, P=0.001) 0.280, P<0.001). High lower -0.482, -0.394, P<0.001) -0.516, 0.498, Conclusion: findings highlight negative impact fear infection, social distancing isolation on population.
